- I leave beard trimmings in the sink sometimes.

- I’m emotionally high maintenance.

What if these were the first things I told you about myself on our first date? Or here’s a better question: Why shouldn’t I tell you these things on our first date? After all, if things go well you are going to find out anyway. Why waste days, months, or even years hiding all the things that might eventually break us up?

This is the premise of “Full Disclosure” a short by Douglas Horn.

Brilliant concept – mediocre execution – definitely worth the iTunes rental.

Watch it and let me know your thoughts.

Taking Woodstock
Directed by Ang Lee
Starring Demetri Martin.

Only go see Taking Woodstock if you feel like taking a nap. I broke my personal rule and saw this movie with no social feedback, but Tyler and I had a few hours to kill between two hosting gigs

Success! We killed our time. I did leave feeling a few notches more interested in Woodstock, the music festival. Otherwise, I would say this is the most pointless film I’ve seen ever.

On a positive note, the prolonged nude hippie scenes did keep it from being perfectly boring movie, and I think Demetri Martin did have one joke.

At least it’s a Woodstock film, so it can be saved by good music. Wrong. No Woodstock music. I’m pretty sure we never even saw the stage.

If you do have an interest in one of the most fascinating events that has ever happened in our nation, go rent “Woodstock: 3 Days of Peace and Music” on iTunes.

SHORT OF THE WEEK

Boy Next Door
Directed by Travis Davis

Yep. That’s Bull (from Night Court)

It’s a dark comedy about a down and out “average Joe” who seems to be cursed with rejection – even by his pet goldfish.

I found this short surprisingly funny. The acting was over par. It’s definitely worth the $2.

I never see a movie unless someone I trust recommends it first. I just don’t think I’m going to be the first person to discover a great movie. If I don’t hear my friends talking about how great the movie is, then I’m not going to see it – unless of course it’s by a director or stars an actor that I have a personal oath to follow.

This is why starting today I’m going to use my Monday post as a movie review day. I’m going to review one feature that is in theaters and one short film that is online. I bet you don’t even watch shorts. No one does. I do though, and I”m going to do all the dirty work for you and find which ones are worth $2 on iTunes.

My goal is to do for you what only a few friends can do for me – recommend movies. And, I want your feedback too. We all do. Together, I believe we can waste less time in bad movies.
