Seriously

Kirk Cameron

Moments ago I was standing about 20 feet away from him backstage at the 2009 Chick-fil-A seminar. He is here to do an on-stage interview about his latest film, “Fireproof”. I haven’t seen it yet, and I never saw “Facing the Giants”. And, I never saw any of the “Left Behind” series. Though I loved Growing Pains.

I was impressed with Kirk, and his mission to bring family values back into Cinema. But, I also wonder a lot about the real impact of these types of films. Do they move people who are outside of the Christian subculture? I’ve heard lots of rave reviews of this film, but they were all from people who already live by the values that the film promotes.

I also don’t know why Boner’s career took such a downturn after Growing Pains. Don’t they have medicine for this?

How could he be using his talent and fame differently for what he stands for without looking like a freak?

I wouldn’t say he looks like a freak. In fact he’s still a good looking guy who doesn’t age. And, I’m sure he’s doing exactly what he feels called to do with his talent.

You misinterpreted my post. By looking like a “freak”, I was inferring to one of those “Hollywood religious nut jobs types.” My question should have been : “What could he be doing differently, maximizing his talent and strength while still maintaining his credibility?”

Your response indicates that he is on the right track. I guess misinterpreted your original post unless you have changed your mind.
